Spotify is getting a new look on desktop
Most Spotify users listen to music on their phones but a new look is coming for those of us who still navigate to the green desktop icon.
The Spotify Desktop app is getting "one of its biggest revamps yet," the streaming service announced in a blog post on Tuesday. The main content area is remaining unchanged, but Your Library and Now Playing views have been redesigned so users are seeing slight upgrades while still maintaining the ways users navigate to their central hub to browse and discover.

The left-hand side of the app window was once an anchored list, from top to bottom: "Home, Search, Your Library, Create Playlist, Liked Songs, Your Episodes." Below that was your list of playlists you've either created or saved.

Now, Your Library is anchored on the left and on the right, you'll find a Now Playing view, which "displays the current song or podcast you’re listening to" along with "information on tour dates and merch," Spotify wrote. You can see an expanded or compact view of your library by clicking the "Your Library" button. While you're at it, you can resize Your Library and Now Playing however you'd like.
"Together, the individually customizable design of these new views provides a richer experience, more context, and quicker access to personal favorites," the company wrote.
And if you want to see your Friend Activity feed, simply navigate to the "friends" icon next to your profile picture in the top right corner of the app.
The redesign is rolling out today, so you'll need to update your app to see any of the changes.
