The U.S. Postal service has just joined Star Trek's 50-year-and-counting mission.

The iconic space exploration TV series and multimedia franchise is celebrating 50 years since the airing of the second pilot , on Sept. 8. Now there's a collection of forever U.S. Postal Service Stamps to help you celebrate and mail some snail mail in Federation style.

The stamps feature four Star Trek-inspired graphic designs including an image of Starship Enterprise and silhouette of an unnamed crewman in a transporter who may or may not be a doomed "red shirt" and Spock's iconic Vulcan salute.

"With the chaos in today’s world, hopefully the stamps and what they signify can inspire a better future for us all,” said Koenig in a statement. The postal service is celebrating the release of the stamps and the series on Twitter with the hashtag #StarTrekForever.

If you buy a sheet of 20 Star Trek commemorative stamps, they appear in a special grid with the original Star Trek logo above and Captain Kirk's refrain, "Space...the final frontier" below.

So celebrate and send your mail boldly where it has never gone before: an actual mailbox.
