The Crown Estate didn't give 'Star Wars' permission to film on the Queen's land

What we've all been waiting for, Darth Vader vs Elizabeth II.

Would you be tempted to let Star Wars film in your back garden? Queen Elizabeth II wouldn't.

Her Majesty's estate turned down a request a few years ago to film Star Wars scenes at Windsor Great Park, according to the BBC. While we would jump at the chance to watch BB-8 roll through our yard, the Crown's reasons actually make sense.

The park is no stranger to being used or filming. But during a recent interview about the park being used to film Goodbye Christopher Robin — a film about the author behind Winnie the Poohan estate spokesperson told the BBC the park had previously turned down Star Wars when they asked to be able to film in the park.

When asked why the park had turned the film franchise down, a spokesperson said, "Our head isn't turned by star names or star films."

Okay then.

That particular statement comes off unbelievably snooty, but the Crown Estate had its reasons for preventing Stormtroopers from stomping through its grounds.

"The location they were interested in wasn't suitable for large numbers of people in there," Nick Day, head of commercial operations for the Crown Estate, told the BBC.

"Our priority is to maintain and protect Windsor Great Park and we can facilitate film crews if we're sure the risk to the park is minimal. But Star Wars is a huge machine, and there's also massive outside interest in those sort of things. It wasn't right for here," Day explained.

The rejection is a bit delayed coming to light; it all happened a few years ago and it's anyone's guess which particular Star Wars film was asking permission.

Even if her Majesty is a fan of the franchise (or a secret Sith? Just a theory) even the biggest fan might not want the whole cast of Star Wars plus any tag-along fans running through their back yard.

Wait, that's wrong, of course they would, that sounds awesome. This one's on you your Majesty.
