LONDON -- Ever wondered what Chewbacca gets up to in his spare time?

Well, wonder no more. London-based illustrator Joe Stone has revealed the hidden life of everyone's favourite roaring furball in a brilliant cartoon series.

"To be honest It was just one of those weird flashes of inspiration that suddenly came to me," Stone told Mashable.

"I'm a big fan of wordplay and puns and stupid jokes in general, and obviously I really like Star Wars, so those two things just sort of clicked into place in my mind one day."

Here are some highlights from the "Drewbacca" project.

The puns don't stop there, either.

Stone told Mashable that the whole thing actually started with Stormtrooper-based illustrations, then spiralled out from there.

Here are a couple from Stone's Stormtrooper series.

"When I first shared them on my social channels I was honestly just expecting lots of groans and to lose a bunch of followers/be shunned by my friends and family, but the reaction has been generally pretty positive!" Stone said.

"I think it was a case of the jokes being so bad they swung back round to good again. Also, everyone likes Star Wars."
