It's the moment we've been waiting for since April 14, 2017: the unveiling of the new Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer.

But should you actually watch it?

Director Rian Johnson isn't so sure.

In August, following an Entertainment Weekly cover story rich with reveals, Johnson cautioned fans to steer clear of the marketing from that point on – lest they run into spoilers.

Mark Hamill co-signed this warning.

Avoiding the Last Jedi marketing has been easy enough for the past couple of months, because there hasn't really been much Last Jedi marketing to speak of. So this week's trailer will be the first true test of your commitment to avoiding Last Jedi spoilers.

On the one hand, you've probably already made up your mind to watch Star Wars: The Last Jedi in theaters. And if you're not on the fence, you don't need a trailer to convince you to see the movie. Why not skip the new ad, and save its surprises for the theatrical experience?

On the other – dude, it's a new Star Wars trailer. Are you really gonna resist the temptation to take a peek? Besides, even if you don't look, it's gonna be impossible to avoid completely. The gifs and screencaps will be all over social media within seconds, and your friends will inevitably discuss the new plot points in casual conversation. Why not just give in and see it for yourself?

Personally, I'm in the latter camp. I know there's no way I'll be able to hold out 'til December, so I'm just going to let myself have this right away.

But to all you spoiler-phobes out there – don't say you haven't been warned.
