That should be handy for sharing clips.

It's kind of a dire time for social clip sharing features on game consoles, but the Steam Deck soldiers on.

Valve revealed on Wednesday that Steam is getting a native app called Steam Game Recording, which does exactly what you think it does: records videos of your gameplay and allows you to edit and share them online. It's available on Steam on PC, of course, but Valve clarified it's also verified to work on Steam Deck.

To be perfectly clear, this feature is in beta at the moment. You'll have to go to the Settings menu, find the Interface section, and go to Beta Participation to opt into the Game Recording beta. Once you do, though, you should be good to go.

Valve's take on game recording on Steam Deck seems like a solid effort, at least if the website advertising all the features is to be believed. You can set it to record when you press a hotkey or constantly record in the background while you play. Clips can be exported to a PC or the Steam mobile app for sharing purposes, and a replay feature will let you watch what just happened to you in a game so you can hopefully avoid it a second time.

The Steam Deck is already one of the best gaming devices out there, and Valve just keeps making it a little better.
