The first draft of that steamed hams script from 'The Simpsons' was excellent too

So, the steamed hams skit in The Simpsons' "22 Short Films About Springfield" is a pretty hot meme right now.

Also known as "Skinner & The Superintendent," the scene featuring Superintendent Chalmers and Principal Skinner is one of the show's funniest, but has landed an extra bit of comedic oomph thanks to the plethora of remixes by people on the internet.

In case you haven't been keeping up, here's the steamed hams skit performed to a custom Guitar Hero song, for some reason.

Or this guy who hasn't seen The Simpsons before, so he improvises the whole scene in one take.

Anyway, one of the show's writers, Bill Oakley, added to the meme by posting the original first script (which he also wrote!) via Twitter on Thursday.

It's mostly the same script, with some changes in here and there, which is kind of remarkable. Here's the first page, with "dinner" as opposed to "luncheon," and Skinner worried about having no other roasts.

We love how the cue for theme music is a generic request for "something about how Skinner is always making up ridiculous lies and driving Chalmers crazy."

"100% Skinner" was the original line instead of "old family recipe," which appears later on the script but is pushed up further along.

Skinner's hilarious exasperation while trying to explain why the steamed hams are grilled was originally just a nod.

And there's no line about how Skinner can "steam a good ham" in the original script, which is surely one of the most memorable lines The Simpsons has ever conjured up.
