If you've been shredding for Stereosonic, now is the time to stop.

The Australian festival -- which is home to beefed-up, neck-tattooed, shirtless men with a David Hasselhoff perma-tan who don't mind the odd brawl -- has officially called it quits for one year.

It has been speculated the shut down is linked to two deaths at the nationwide festival in 2015 due to drug overdoses.

Pharmacist Sylvia Choi, 25, died at the Sydney event after taking an ecstasy pill with the SnapChat logo printed on it. While Stefan Woodward, 19, suffered the same fate after a drug overdose at the festival in Adelaide.

The electronic music festival's organisers, Totem Onelove Group, doesn't give a reason for shutting its doors for a year-long break but some observers think it is for the good of society.

"Totem Onelove Group is currently working on bringing Stereosonic fans the best festival experience possible. As part of this, we are taking a hiatus during 2016. However, we will return in 2017, bigger and better," the company announced on Facebook Thursday.

Many dedicated punters will be left devo after hearing the news, with gyms across Australia dealing with an influx of membership cancellations. The jokes, which are a mainstay when it comes to Stereo critiques, flooded in. Here are the main things everyone  will miss about the festival that changed the course of Australian history.

Getting your gabber on

Nothing says cool moves like a dance that can be set to the track of Thomas the Tank Engine.

The preparation

The protein powder, mirror screaming and the bulking up dedication. All for nothing?

The morning of the festival

The feeling when the nerves hit, as everything you have been working towards for the last nine months will finally be on display. Then this guy gets on your train and you realise you should have done one more set.

The all-in brawls

You can't get rid of all the testosterone with dancing and doing backflips on trains. The highlight of the event is the group bonding sessions a.k.a the festival brawl.

Where else do you get to hear the DJ screaming "I love you Sydney," as you smash on with your best buddies?

Bum bags

There are only select locations that this fashion statement works, and the world will be a little less hip with the loss of Stereo. How will you hold your cash stash and late '90s Nokia?

Hanging shirtless with your mates

Over and out, Stereo

It hasn't been real.
