LONDON -- Q: What's better than breakfast?

A: Breakfast prepared by a machine two older British men built to make their wives the perfect breakfast.

Inventor Peter Browne, age 69, worked with his buddy Mervyn Huggett to build the "Sunday Morning Breakfast Machine"' which serves up the perfect toast, soft-boiled egg, and tea or coffee.

Browne, a retired airline pilot and silversmith, did the mechanical work on the machine while Huggett provided expertise on the electronics. Cumulatively, the pair spent around 1,000 hours to complete the SMBM.

"The basic thing is to make people laugh. It's got to look silly, but the main thing is that it obviously has to work well," says Browne.
