Australians love jokes at other people's expense. If there’s a tall poppy, they’ll chop it down with an LOL. If there’s a glorious supermoon in the sky, they’ll smirk and say they’ve seen bigger.

But in the case of Monday night’s supermoon -- the biggest and brightest in 70 years -- it may have been kind of true.

Some Australians in the major cities of Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide were up against some major clouds, only copping a peek at the supermoon here and there.

It was a supermoon that brought people together. It mended hearts. But in Australia, the bonding came through curmudgeonly comments.

Never change, Australians! Never change.
