Heroic citizen guides a helpless swan to safety

The fowl ran afoul.

Birds just don't get the rules of the road. And while it can be a real pain for drivers, it's even more dangerous for the fowl.

On Sunday, a swan in Limerick, Ireland, decided it would completely disregard traffic safety rules and take a stroll in the middle of the road. Thankfully, this swan came to no harm because of a man named Jack.

In a post on Facebook, Limerick Animal Welfare wrote:

"Jack give us a call yesterday to say a swan was on the bridge and what could be done to help. After getting some information on the condition of the swan we talked to Jack about the possibility of either lifting or guiding the swan to the slipway and back to the safety of the water."

Knowing that Limerick Animal Welfare was 25 minutes away, Jack sprung into action to help the bird.

Jack protected the bird from on-coming traffic.

He led the bird across the bridge.

Jack and the swan make their way down to the water.

They finally came to the water's edge.

...ensuring the swan's safety.

What a hero!
