The Syrian girl who was sent a Harry Potter book by J.K. Rowling has been displaced in Aleppo along with her mother after her house was destroyed by bombing.

Talking to Mashable via direct message on Twitter, Bana Alabed said they're still trapped in the rebel-held areas in the eastern part of the city

"Still inside, we can't escape. If we go to regime side, they will kill us. We received many death threats," she said. "We're just waiting. We're together."

On Sunday night, she tweeted: "Tonight we have no house, it's bombed & I got in rubble. I saw deaths and I almost died - Bana."

The messages were retweeted by J.K. Rowling, who sent an e-book to Bana after her mother messaged the writer asking how her daughter could read the Harry Potter novels.

"She wants to but we don't have it here," Bana's mother Fatemah tweeted. "We watched the movie before. How do we get?"

Shortly after their Twitter exchange, Rowling sent Bana the stories via Ebook. Bana then sent a thank you tweet to the author on Wednesday morning.

The UN said up to 16,000 civilians have been displaced by the Syrian government's offensive in rebel-held areas under siege in Aleppo.

At least 18 people were killed in aerial bombings on remaining rebel-held territory, including 12 in the Shaar district near the northern frontline

Another 10 died in the Bab al-Nairab area, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
