Transparent star Jeffrey Tambor has announced that he can't see himself returning to the Amazon series following allegations made by costar Trace Lysette and Tambor's former assistant Van Barnes.

Tambor, who denies both allegations, told Mashable through a spokesperson that the "politicized atmosphere" of the set has led him to choose to exit the Emmy-winning show.

Tambor's statement reads as follows:

Playing Maura Pfefferman on Transparent has been one of the greatest privileges and creative experiences of my life. What has become clear over the past weeks, however, is that this is no longer the job I signed up for four years ago. I’ve already made clear my deep regret if any action of mine was ever misinterpreted by anyone as being aggressive, but the idea that I would deliberately harass anyone is simply and utterly untrue. Given the politicized atmosphere that seems to have afflicted our set, I don’t see how I can return to Transparent.

There has not yet been confirmation of the actor's formal exit from Transparent from Amazon or Tambor, only the language that he "can't see how [he] can return." Amazon responded to a request for comment, but has no statement to share right now.

Lysette's allegation against Tambor came on November 16, following a separate account from Barnes on a private Facebook page.

Our Lady J, a writer and producer for Transparent, expressed support of Lysette and Barnes in a statement.

"Any abuse of power is inexcusable, but hearing the stories of Van and Trace have particularly shattered me," wrote Our Lady J. "We cannot let trans content be taken down by a single cis man."

UPDATED Nov. 19 at 7:05 p.m. ET with Amazon's "no comment."
