Taylor Swift announced on Tuesday that she will be donating $1 million in support of the thousands of victims of the Louisiana floods.

In a statement to AP, Swift explained her connection to Louisiana and the fans that welcomed her there last year.

"We began The 1989 World Tour in Louisiana, and the wonderful fans there made us feel completely at home," Swift said in a statement. "The fact that so many people in Louisiana have been forced out of their own homes this week is heartbreaking."
