One Ohio student proved that some teens really do have souls.

Trey Potter is an 18-year-old high schooler who decided to bring his mom, MelRo Potter, as his date to senior prom.

MelRo gave birth to Trey at age 16. She had grown up in 23 different foster homes and didn't want that for her son. Though she was homeless at the time of his birth, MelRo did everything she could to give Trey a happy life.

This meant missing out on high school events, including prom.

“She never had that experience and she’s risked so much for throughout my life and made so many sacrifices. I thought it would be the right thing to do,” Trey told ABC 6.

Despite growing up in and out of foster care, MelRo got into modeling at a young age. Now, along with continuing to be a model, she is an activist for homeless youth and children in foster homes.

Her determination has inspired Trey and he was excited to give his mother the prom experience she never had.

“I think it shows her how much I appreciate her cause I really do after all she’s been through and all I’ve been through with her,” he said.

It looks like MelRo had a great time.

She captioned an Instagram photo compilation of herself and Trey with, "Dreams do come true! I really am at Prom!"
