Following the news that a Tesla Model S owner successfully drove the car through a flooded tunnel in Kazakhstan, Elon Musk revealed on Twitter that the Model S actually floats "well enough to turn it into a boat."

While Musk does not recommend anyone actually trying this out, he says it would work for "short periods of time," with wheel rotation providing the necessary thrust.

Don't believe it? Just check the video (below) of the Model S driver in Kazakhstan, unearthed by Electrek over the weekend. You can see the Model S easily glide through the flooded tunnel, leaving gas-powered cars behind.

To make things even more interesting, Musk followed up with a tweet claiming that building a "sports sub car that can drive on roads" is something he plans to do, despite such a project's "limited market potential."

We disagree -- every evil overlord worth his salt needs his own sports submarine that's also a car.
