Tesla Motors is voluntarily recalling 2,700 Model X SUVs over safety concerns its third-row seat could move forward during a crash.

According to a tweet from Electrek, which includes a screen grab of a letter sent to a Model X owner, the vehicles are being recalled due to an issue with the seat's hinge that allows it "unexpectedly slip."

In the recall letter, Tesla highlights that the original part was designed not by the company but rather by a third-party supplier. Tesla has since worked with the company to design a replacement recliner, and it's currently designing a reworked third-row seat-back to accommodate the replacement recliner.

Until the third-row seat has been repaired, owners of the affected vehicles have been asked not to allow passengers to sit in the third-row seat while the vehicle is in motion until the recall fix has been performed.

It's not clear what percentage of the Model X SUVs built to-date are involved in the recall, but the company reported 2,400 Model X vehicles were produced in the first quarter of 2016 and 750 additional Model X vehicles were added to the fleet per week since.
