The Count from 'Sesame Street' is the perfect foil to Trump's bonkers election strategy

Who had "The Count from Sesame Street becomes the star of election memes" on their 2020 bingo card?

My guess is no one! But in the midst of this exhausting ballot counting chaos it's nice to see our old friend, Count von Count — the vampire Muppet who's an expert at counting — dominating our timelines.

This year, as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, significantly more votes were cast by mail or dropped early in secure drop boxes. Because of that, tallying the results is taking a lot longer than people would like. We're on Day 3 of waiting for the final counts, and it's safe to say the American people are getting a little impatient.

As of this writing, we're still waiting for key states like Pennsylvania, Arizona, Georgia, and Nevada to be officially called, but because the counts are so tight Donald Trump is feeling the pressure. Amidst his panic he's calling for ballots to stop being counted altogether.

Trump tweeted "STOP THE COUNT!" on Thursday morning and continues to argue that only votes that were counted on Election Day (which fell in his favor) should be counted in this election. Trump's request is genuinely stupid and outlandish — and incredibly dangerous for democracy. It's important to note that the votes still being tallied are legitimate, they were simply mailed in instead of cast in person.

With so much counting on the brain, many people are turning to the ultimate counting symbol, The Count, to lighten the mood and troll Trump. Please enjoy a few of our favorite Count memes.

It's been a stressful week, but at least Sesame Street Twitter is lit.
