A new promo video for Amazon's big budget The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power TV show dropped this week and, my goodness, did the internet have jokes. Now, to be clear, this video is neither the opening credits of the show, as some folks thought, nor is it an official trailer.

It's a mash-up of images from a promo with Entertainment Weekly. In fact, the video sits atop an in-depth EW story about the ambitious fantasy show. But that didn't stop folks from posting sarcastic comments on Twitter about the video.

Though the post wasn't from the show itself, there is plenty to laugh about. It's quite strange to see what amounts to a mash-up of GIFs of actors in full LOTR garb making knowing glances, over-wrought reactions, and other vague capital-A-Acting expressions.

People also set the video to different theme songs, ranging from the internet-famous Too Many Cooks, to Australian sitcom Kath & Kim, and soap opera The Young and the Restless.

Then there were memes and jokes. Lots of memes and jokes.

Of course, there were also lots of folks correctly noting that the video was neither the opening credits nor a trailer for the show.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power premieres globally on Friday, but those in the U.S. will be able to watch it on Amazon Prime Video at 9 p.m. E.T. Despite the memes, you might want to give it a watch. Mashable's Belen Edwards called the show a "stunning, meticulously crafted love letter to J.R.R. Tolkien and Middle-earth."

The internet, however, welcomed the new show with anything but love.
