Chrismukkah this year is more perfect than normal. Allow 'The O.C.' to explain.

Thank the Hanukkah/Christmas dates perfectly coinciding.

As everyone who loyally watched seminal Fox dramedy The O.C. from 2003-07 (or knew someone who loyally watched The O.C. from 2003 to 2007) is well aware, Chrismukkah time is nearly upon us.

Chrismukkah has been a popular term in pop culture for over a decade at this point, but just in case you've somehow forgotten the holiday, here's your high school television boyfriend Seth Cohen giving you a rundown.

While people can (and do) celebrate Chrismukkah every year, 2016 is extra special because for the first time in 28 years, the dates for Hanukkah and Christmas actually overlap: The first night of Hanukkah this year is Christmas Eve. The last time that this exact Christmas-Hanukkah overlap happened was in 1978, and the next time it will happen will be in 2027, per Time.

What does this mean for this weekend's Chrismukkah celebration?

It's basically never been a more perfect time to break out your Music From The O.C. Mix 3: Have A Very Merry Chrismukkah CD (or, you know, the Spotify version of it embedded below). The mix features tracks from alt acts like Jimmy Eat World and Ben Kweller and includes both standards like "Last Christmas" as well as lesser-known gems like "Christmas Is Going to the Dogs." It's all very 2004.

OC trivia enthusiasts are likely to remember that the final track on the mix, "Maybe This Christmas," closed out the Season 2 Chrismukkah celebration... when Seth welcomed Ryan's girlfriend Lindsay into the crazy Cohen family after she found out that Seth's grandpa Caleb was secretly her father. God, this show was perfect.

My 2017 wish is for The O.C. to finally get on Netflix, cool music and all.
