Lately, Third Eye Blind hasn't been shy when it comes to speaking their minds.

The pop punk band challenged audience members at this year's Republican National Convention, and are now back with a new song called "Cop vs. Phone Girl" that addresses police brutality and the Black Lives Matter movement.

In the latest single from the band's upcoming album We Are Drugs, singer Stephan Jenkins retells the true story of Shakara, a 16-year-old girl from South Carolina who was assaulted and flung across a classroom by a police officer. The 2015 attack was filmed and posted across social media.

"I mean he flipped her just like a rag doll and broke her arm," Jenkins sings, detailing the incident.

Additionally, the track mentions the Black Lives Matter movement and misconceptions that come along with that statement.

On the song, Jenkins sings "On the classroom, there’s a little blood splatter / Why’s it so hard to say Black Lives Matter? / Doesn't it mean that you’re anti-white / Take it from me, I’m super f*cking white"
