We're all a bit exhausted and stressed right now, especially if you're sitting glued to Twitter.

As we move into Thursday with the results of the presidential election still incomplete and crucial battleground state votes trickling in, asking a simple question about how the American political system works on the platform seems as likely to prompt creativity as an actual answer.

And in this case, that meant memes.

When kindergarten teacher Jans asked Twitter on Wednesday to name the three branches of federal government, the response was memes by the bucketload.

At the time of writing, that tweet has prompted a solid 36,000 quote tweet replies. And as you can probably guess, the vast majority of answers didn't mention the words executive, legislative, or judicial once.

Every now and then, a simple question can prompt a far better response than anyone could have possibly predicted — and a fleeting moment of levity in this anxiety-inducing election process.
