This 'Time' cover will give you a reality check about Trump's America

A lot has changed over the past five decades, but Time's latest cover? Not so much.

For the magazine's upcoming April 3 issue, President Donald Trump was interviewed about "truth and falsehood in his career," which, as we can guess from his first few controversial months as president, is bound to be interesting (to say the least).

Time revealed the issue's cover on Thursday, which reads: "Is Truth Dead?" in a powerfully large red font atop a black background -- a "typographical homage" to the magazine's "Is God Dead?" cover published on April 8, 1966, a.k.a. the first ever Time cover without an image.

Trump's short time in office has been riddled with an enormous amount of fake news, Twitter tirades and alternative facts, so this simple yet statement-making cover accompanying such an important interview seems appropriate.

"Half a century later," Time Editor Nancy Gibbs wrote. "I suspect that about as many would say they believe in Truth, and yet we find ourselves having an intense debate over its role and power in the face of a President who treats it like a toy."

The bold cover has already inspired a fair share of strong, mixed reactions from Twitter users, sparking a debate on whether truth still exists in the world during such a divided time.

This surely isn't the first magazine cover depicting an aspect of Trump's presidency through art, and despite Trump's numerous attacks on the media, publications like Time and The New Yorker don't appear to be slowing down any time soon.
