Tinder would perhaps have a difficult time getting in on the VR craze. So it didn't. Instead, it pranked CES.

In the thick of the Consumer Entertainment Show on Thursday, the dating app "launched" Tinder VR, a "multiuser VR" experience that is actually just two people wearing a big headset and having a face-to-face conversation.

"As a tech company, we felt inspired to create [a VR headset] of our own," reads a blog post on the Tinder website. "But here’s the thing: our mission has always been to get people together to have real experiences in the real world. So how do we reconcile the fact that VR is the antithesis of this?"

Apparently, there is no reconciliation. As far as Tinder's concerned, you just gotta talk -- in person.

"We created our multi-user VR headset with the Tinder experience in mind. Real people having a real experience, and like the app, it only works with a double opt-in," the post reads, concluding with, "Welcome to the future. It’s all about human connection. Give it a try -- you might enjoy it."

And thus, Tinder started to sound a bit like a dude who would message you on Tinder. You seen Black Mirror lately? We better meet in person. I heard technology could be bad.
