That little pocket camera made to shoot the night sky is nearly ready.

The Tiny1 from Singapore startup TinyMOS blew through its Indiegogo fundraising campaign in July last year to raise nearly $430,000 -- over three times its goal.

When we saw an initial prototype last year, it was a little, tinny, aluminium gadget. This week, as the company readies a first batch to ship to backers, we saw that the black edition of the camera now has a slick oleophobic coating.

It'll also come with three lenses -- a wide-angle, a 4mm (28mm full frame equivalent) kit lens, and a telephoto.

Photography enthusiasts who want to fit their own lenses on the body will be able to with a C-mount adapter, as well.

Here's some pictures the Tiny1 has captured:

The camera body is also a little more weatherproof: there's a rubber cover over its ports, so it can handle light rain, and it's been tested to go to -20 degrees C (-4 F) and 60 degrees C (140 F), TinyMOS CEO Grey Tan said.

The Android-based camera has a GPS chip and will overlay a sky map to help amateur astronomers find their target.

But if you didn't back the camera or make a pre-order before now, it'll be quite the wait before you can get one on retail shelves.

The company is set to ship about 1,000 cameras between April and June. Beyond this batch, Tan says TinyMOS needs to raise another round of funds from private investors before it can churn out a sufficient volume for retail.

If that happens, TinyMOS has lined up some large online photography store clients, Tan added. The Tiny1 will be expected to list for $529 if it makes it to retail shelves.
