There's a bit of toilet humour going down on Internet at the moment.

You see, even though the humble toilet paper roll holder is part of your daily routine, it probably doesn't enter your mind unless you run out of paper at an unfortunate moment. That's why it's baffling so many people are sharing videos of badly-designed toilet roll holders from around the world on Reddit. Baffling, but also amazing.

It's everything you never knew you needed.

Of course, Japan leads the pack with this ingenious but admittedly rather ugly-looking toilet roll holder, which was posted by user wisyf in the GIFs subreddit. Look at how incredibly simple it is to replace the roll -- all you need is one hand. Pure brilliance.

Perhaps a high-tech toilet roll holder is no surprise in a country with toilet seats that can squirt water up your butt. No other country is so innovative when it comes to supporting your bodily functions.

Here are the mostly crappy (haha, geddit?) contributions from around the globe.

Australia

Australia's version is great for keeping the roll securely attached, thanks to the metal clasp, but you'd be better off running through the depths of hell than trying to replace the toilet paper with one hand. Innovation nation, surely not.

Germany

Hey, this looks pretty fun to use. The German iteration of the toilet roll holder has an easy escape button for empty rolls, but you'll still have to get down and fetch it from the floor like some schmuck. Fun, but still a tad inconvenient.

America

Can you imagine the time one would spend trying to reattach the metal bit onto the holder again? Three hours and 24 minutes, to be exact. Oh the pain, the pain. Just a thought, probably best to not deal with the pain with a gun though.

Belgian

There are Belgian waffles and then there are Belgian toilet paper waffles. We know which one we'd prefer. This toilet paper holder is a treat in every roll. Of course, in real life there's no such thing but let a toilet goer dream.
