Alicia Vikander, not Daisy Ridley, will be the next Lara Croft
Tomb raider fans: Meet the newest Lara Croft.
Oscar winning actress Alicia Vikander is up next to portray the explorer made famous both in game and on the big screen in the upcoming Tomb Raider franchise reboot, according to Variety. While Force Awakens actress Daisy Ridley was rumored to play the part, Variety said Vikander was "always in the driver's seat" to play Lara.

The film is being produced by Graham King and directed by Norwegian filmmaker Roar Uthaug. MGM has been attached to the project since 2013.
Lara Croft's adventures were portrayed by Angelina Jolie in two films, in 2001 and 2003. Her last video game appearances, 2013's Tomb Raider reboot and its sequel Rise of the Tomb Raider, were voiced by actress Camilla Luddington.
After Vikander's Best Supporting Actress win for The Danish Girl in February, she's also set to star in Jason Bourne and The Ocean Between Us, both out this year.
