Toronto is finally filling this sinkhole because annoyed residents turned it into a tomato garden

It's the most passive aggressive community garden in history.

Fed up Toronto residents managed to push the city into fixing a sinkhole by passive aggressively planting tomatoes in it.

A huge pothole has marred Poplar Plains Road "for months now," according to CityNews reporter Brandon Rowe.

Fed up with the city's slow progress on getting it fixed, the gardeners of Toronto banded together and planted tomatoes in the pothole.

One Toronto resident called the pothole "the community garden" and hoped that the city wouldn't rush to fix it because "we're still a couple weeks away from harvest time."

Someone posted a picture of the makeshift garden on Reddit, where Redditors pointed out that residents probably shouldn't eat the tomatoes even when they're ready, considering Toronto's industrial past and gasoline use.

On Friday, the city promised to fix the gaping hole.

If you're worried about the nearly ripe tomato plants, the city is making sure that they don't go to waste.

"We have successfully begun the process of transferring the tomatoes to a community garden so they will survive," Toronto's mayor John Tory said in the CityNews video aboe. "And the pothole will be fixed."

It's not the first time that vigilante community organizers pushed slow governments to fill potholes.

A mystery vandal known as "Wanksy" has been getting the city of Bury, England to fix holes in the road by painting massive penises around them.
