"Ken's looking good."

With these words, a California bakery showed its Facebook followers what acceptance looks like.

Freeport Bakery in Sacramento recently fulfilled a customer's request for a birthday cake featuring a Ken doll wearing a dress. After a photograph of the cake was shared on Facebook, the bakery began receiving some serious backlash from people who said they found the cake offensive.

In a statement on the Freeport Bakery website, owners Walter and Marlene Goetzeler explained that a slew of negative comments began to roll in after people saw the Ken doll adorned with a dress made of pink frosting, a flower sash and a tiara. They also noticed that a significant amount of people had unfollowed the bakery's Facebook page.

The bakery often makes custom doll cakes and was more than happy to make this one as well. "We were especially proud of its buttercream detail so we decided to post a photo of it on our Facebook page, as we do with many of the cakes we design and adore," they wrote.

A week after the original post, Freeport Bakery re-shared the photograph of the cake with the caption, "Facebook Friends, After posting this we had a ton of people un-liking our Facebook page. I deleted the rude remarks, thank goodness not too many. Our customer was thrilled. Share this for us!"

Following this update, the bakery began receiving a great deal of support from people who admired and respected the cake. "Luckily, we have received that support and so much more from our fans, devoted customers and staff," the Goetzelers wrote.

On Monday, the bakery thanked its supporters by posting an Audrey Hepburn quote on acceptance.

In their statement, the Goetzelers wrote, "At Freeport Bakery, we believe there’s no better way to celebrate something special than with a wonderful dessert. We remain proudly committed to creating delicious and remarkable cakes that make our customers feel seen, loved and celebrated."

Mashable reached out to Marlene Goetzeler for comment and will update this post once we receive a response.
