Trevor Noah really digs into Apple's 'new' feature and Elon Musk's Twitter spree

What a week.

The Daily Show host Trevor Noah can't believe Apple's new feature, or the fact that it's practically taking us back through time.

Well, neither of those things are real, but during Thursday night's edition of The Daily Social Distancing Show, Noah really dug into a couple of things: namely Apple and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

First up, "the world's biggest tech giant and smallest producer of apples."

Apple has made it (slightly) less annoying to unlock your iPhone with a face mask on during the coronavirus pandemic, by enabling users to now input their passcode on the first unlock screen — usually, if Face ID is enabled, the phone will try to scan your face, which can cause the scan to fail if you're wearing a mask. Then, you can pop in your passcode, but Apple's made it so you can use a code the first time.

Noah couldn't help but lightly mock this 'new' feature.

"It's been reported that Apple is about to launch a new feature to fix this problem, by letting people punch in a secret code that unlocks the phone. Yeah!" said Noah, with a high amount of sarcastic surprise.

"And I know what the haters are gonna say, 'Oh, we had this technology years ago.' Yeah, exactly. This is the genius of Apple, they're trying to take us back in time. Because if we're back in time, there's no corona. And Cheryl hasn't broken up with me."

Here's the clip:

In other news, Noah took a look at the recent Twitter meltdown of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who hit the tweets with a bunch of anti-lockdown messaging before calling stay-at home orders "fascist" during Tesla's latest earnings call, then tweeting "bon voyage" to any of his followers who didn't like what he had to say.

Noah "agrees" with Musk in the most sarcastic way possible — "You definitely can't go to H&M, and that is the very definition of fascism." — but the host sees what's really going on.

"I see what Elon Musk is really doing here. This guy's just trying to stir up civil unrest so that people end up buying one of his bulletproof trucks," said Noah, before a not-so-subtle dig at Musk's belief that we're all living in a computer simulation.

"Now he's like, 'Yo, the universe might be fake but my stock price is real, let's take this shit seriously, people.'"

Stick around for the bit on Donald Trump and the whole reply guy-ventilator mess.
