Social media and celebrities alike had a lot to say about the way Meryl Streep took Donald Trump to task at the Golden Globes.

But one of the most surprising reactions came from The Daily Show’s Trevor Noah, who called Streep's speech "tone-deaf" last night.

"I understand what Meryl Streep was trying to do, and I don't know if I could've done better in that moment, but here’s the thing I feel like we could all learn as people," Noah said about Streep's jab at football. "You don’t have to make your point by shitting on someone else’s thing, because a lot of people love football and the arts.”

Surprisingly though, Noah failed to address Trump's response to the speech until briefly in a later segment of his show.

Noah's reaction only further proves that Streep's speech, though inspiring to some, was seen as harmful and divisive to others on both sides of the political spectrum.
