Tropical Storm Don isn't named for the president
Perhaps we shouldn't be surprised that, in 2017, even the weather is political.
Tropical Storm Don is about to soak the Windward Islands in a few inches of rain that might cause flash floods, but it's a storm that would probably fade quickly from memory if it didn't share a name with the president of the United States.
Tropical storms are named via rotated lists of options created years in advance by the World Meteorological Organization, so Tropical Storm Don has nothing to do with its presidential counterpart despite being called "small" and "not particularly well organized" by the National Hurricane Center.
“I guarantee you that it has no connection to Donald Trump," former National Hurricane Center Director Max Mayfield told the Associate Press.
But that doesn't mean people weren't ready to make jokes.

Maybe Low Energy Don wasn't named for the president, but, if you ever hear about a Tropical Storm The Donald, feel free to speculate.
