Twitter is broken across the world, Facebook taking complaints

Twitter has gone down in parts of the world due to a "technical difficulty."

UPDATE: April 13, 2016, 11:49 p.m. EST: Twitter came back online in some parts of the world momentarily after an outage lasting more than one hour. People were relieved to be able to finally discuss the horror on the platform itself. Then it died again.

UPDATE: April 14, 2016, 12:57 a.m. EST: Twitter is back up, according to Twitter. For now...

Twitter has gone down in parts of the world due to a "technical difficulty."

The social media giant went down at 10:40 p.m. EST on Wednesday. Mashable confirmed the outage is affecting parts of Australia, Asia, Europe and America. It may also be affecting other regions. 

The website Down Right Now reports the site is experiencing a "likely service disruption," though it does not indicate the regions affected. 

The Twitterati had nowhere to vent their frustration except on Facebook. And they did that in droves.

Twitter confirmed the outage in a statement emailed to Mashable. "Some users are currently experiencing problems accessing Twitter. We are aware of the issue and are working towards a resolution," a spokesperson said. 

The outage was labelled a "partial service disruption" on Twitter's status website. "Some users may be experiencing problems reaching twitter.com and using the twitter mobile apps," the company said.

The last big outage occurred in January

It's times like these we miss the comfort of our old friend, the Fail Whale.
