Twitter increases GIF size limit to 15MB, but only for the web
You don't know rage unless you've tried to post a cute puppy GIF to Twitter and couldn't, because it was just slightly over the 5MB limit. Well, those days are over now, as Twitter has increased the GIF size limit to 15MB.
First spotted by The Verge, and confirmed by Twitter's support page, the change only pertains to the web version of Twitter -- on mobile, the GIF limit is still 5MB.
"Photos can be up to 5MB; animated GIFs can be up to 5MB on mobile, and up to 15MB on web", says Twitter's support page.

Even though its limitations are part of its appeal, Twitter has recently begun relaxing many of the restrictions on its services. In May, the company started counting images, polls and user names separately from its 140-character tweet limit.
In June, Twitter (as well as Twitter-owned Vine) started supporting videos up to 140 seconds long.
