'Game of Thrones' fandom weeps over the end of Summer
Warning: This post contains spoilers from Season 6, episode five of Game of Thrones.
Summer is dead. Winter is officially coming.
During Season 6, episode five of Game of Thrones we lost not just one fan favorite character but two adorable protectors of Bran. While Hodor's plight received most of the Internet's grief, the direwolf fandom has been up in arms over Summer's selfless act against the White Walkers that led to his brutal and untimely demise.

Even PETA spoke out about Summer's death.
"Direwolves display the same loyalty to their human companions that so many animals do, so it's no wonder that viewers are saddened when one dies," PETA's senior vice president Lisa Lange told The Daily News in a statement.
