Twitter scraps press email's auto-reply poop emoji

There's now a more palatable, if just as useless, auto-message.

Twitter's auto-reply poop emoji to press inquiries is no more.

Back in March, owner Elon Musk announced that Twitter's press email would now auto-reply to every message with a poop emoji:

This came months after mass layoffs at Twitter in November last year, with the communications department "almost entirely" gutted.

Now, in July, the press email has a different auto-response: "We'll get back to you soon."

Musk tweeted about this change this week, stating, "We are changing the auto-reply from 💩 to a 'We will get back to you soon' infinite loop." In a reply to that he said, "Or maybe a 'Check with us again tomorrow' loop."

As Insider muses, this press reply change may be due to leadership shifts at the company. Twitter's new CEO Linda Yaccarino started last month; her first message to employees stated that she would follow Musk's vision, but dressed it in more corporate speak. It makes sense, then, that Twitter changed its auto-reply to something more palatable — even if it is just as meaningless.
