Twitter is going to live stream the Republican and Democratic conventions
Twitter's push into live video of major events continued on Monday with the announcement that it would stream the upcoming Democratic and Republican national conventions.
CBS, which owned the streaming rights, agreed to a deal that will let Twitter stream the conventions online. The financial details were not disclosed.
"Twitter is the fastest way to find out what’s happening in politics and to have a discussion about it," said Twitter’s Chief Financial Officer Anthony Noto in a press release. "By bringing the live discussion of the Republican and Democratic national conventions together with CBSN’s live video stream of the proceedings, we believe we’re giving people around the world the best way to experience democracy in action."
