Unicorn macarons are a thing now, and Instagrammers are losing it

What sorcery is this?

Eating macrons is not unlike inhaling magical air.

They're melt-in-your-mouth light, like a layer of crystalised fairy dust that also could contribute to a diabetes diagnosis one day.

So it's no great stretch that they'd eventually be hand-painted in the image of the most mystical and not at all made up creature: the mighty unicorn.

Mac Lab Bakery knows all about the magic (and insane hype) conjured when a delicious biscuit-thing and unicorn iconography meet.

The Georgia-based dessert lords are currently wading through a glittery ocean of requests, questions and press due to their non-GMO, ultra-fine almond flour-filled unicorn macarons.

And prepare to sound the Instagram mania alarm, because they're also gluten free. What sorcery?!

The tiny, edible unicorn heads, filled with "fruity pebbles” have become so popular that the husband and wife team behind Mac Labs are only able to sell a maximum of five per customer. And no, they will not "hold" them for you, or ship them overseas, geez.

Just look at how golden their horns are. They’re wearing blush, for crying out loud. But fear not, macaron-phobes. If the saccharine nature of a communion wafer-style biscuit is not your jam, the bakery also sells some glorious cakes that resemble a unicorn’s flattened head.

And Mac Labs isn't the only baked goods suppliers helping the internet reach “peak unicorn.”

Move over, lame fairies and mermaids. It's all about unicorns in 2017! In dessert terms, anyway.
