There's rarely a dull moment at the US Open. And how could there be, with the high-stakes, high-pressure, high-speed nature of it all?

This month, hundreds of devoted tennis fans will swarm Arthur Ashe Stadium for a glimpse at tennis greatness. Luckily, for those watching at home, the internet will be rife with coverage from the US Open. There will be moments ranging from the epic to the tragic to the downright bizarre, and many will be replayed over and over and over again in the form of GIFs.

To get you amped up for what’s to come this year, we're revisiting some of our favorite GIFs from US Opens past. We hope you love them as much as we do.

Do the splits

The outstanding athleticism isn't just limited to tennis skills at the US Open – sometimes there's some gymnastics involved. Serena Williams is known for doing everything she can to get to the ball, even if that means dropping into a mean split on the court.

Hold on tight

We forget that without the rackets, none of this would be possible. From time to time, however, they seem to have a mind of their own. They forget that their owners have a very important tennis match to win and fly out of hands, or, in this specific GIF, get stuck in hair.

Get a whiff of this

Tennis legends are still human at the end of the day. And humans sometimes whiff the ball, hard. Andy Murray's very human reaction to his failed overhead smash attempt makes this GIF even more priceless.

Upsets happen

You can't fault these players for getting a little emotional after a startling defeat. Often, we find ourselves also feeling feelings when we see it play out on national TV. But, sometimes, feeling feelings makes watching the US Open all the more dynamic.

The ol' through-the-legs move

Sometimes tennis stars can't help but show off a little. Take Roger Federer, for instance: He can hit an ace shot, backwards, through his legs. That's nuts.

Intimate connections

Aside from the grunting, the sweating and the palpable tension, the US Open also has a softer side. A tender smooch on the trophy is proof of this.

No feeling like it

These players didn't come to play – they came to win. Every athlete has their own way of expressing sheer joy, but the more emphatic the reaction the more entertaining it is for the viewers at home. Fist pumps always help, too.
