There's nothing more painful than watching post-debate coverage on cable networks.

Following Wednesday night's presidential debate, CNN correspondents Anderson Cooper and Van Jones gave viewers multiple reasons to (almost) believe in cable television again.

"You know this is a really sad night for the country," Van Jones said. "You can't polish this turd."

"Technically, you can't polish any turd," Anderson Cooper corrected.

It's unclear how Jones would polish a turd, but Twitter had their own imagination.

Earlier in the evening, calm-cool-and-collected Anderson Cooper finally struck out at a Trump surrogate after she alleged that dead people were committing voter fraud

"You're making that up," Anderson told her.

The debate may have been unwatchable, but this -- this was good.

BONUS: Not even the audience can take Trump seriously when he says he respects women
