Now you can avoid VidCon FOMO by livestreaming the convention

You'll still miss out on all that local Anaheim flavor, however.

LOS ANGELES -- Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) at VidCon may be a thing of the past.

On Wednesday, VidCon and YouTube (the event's title sponsor) announced the conference's first ever livestream. Now fans and creators around the world who won’t be able to attend can watch portions of the event live on youtube.com/vidcon and live.vidcon.com.

The three-day conference, co-created by YouTubers Hank Green and his brother John (author of the book The Fault in Our Stars), has become the go-to gathering for industry executives, video content creators and their fans.

However, not everyone can make the trek. Tickets started at as low as $100 for "early bird" buyers and as high as $750 for regular Industry attendees. That doesn't include food, travel and hotel costs.

Many members of the online video community -- who lovingly refer to themselves as #TeamInternet -- consider VidCon their favorite gathering of the year.

"We are excited to bring VidCon to all the fans and creators in the world who can’t attend the event," Kurt Wilms, Product Lead for YouTube Live, said in a statement. "We’ve supported live streaming since 2011 and can’t wait to power the technology behind this important event to our community.”

The conference takes place June 23-25 at the Anaheim Convention Center. This year, there will be a whopping 359 panels, more than 30,000 attendees and (of course) hundreds of creators.
