Vivo's got a new flagship smartphone, and, as expected, it has a very long and comprehensive list of features.

The Vivo X80 Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, has a 6.78-inch, 120Hz AMOLED display, 12GB of RAM with 256GB of storage, and a 4,700mAh battery with extremely fast, 80W wired charging, as well as 50W wireless charging.

Typically for Vivo, a big focus is placed on the Zeiss-branded camera, which has a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 48-megapixel wide sensor, a 12-megapixel sensor specialized for portrait shots and an 8-megapixel periscope camera with 5x optical zoom. On the front, there's a single, 32-megapixel camera. The biggest upgrade here is actually the 12-megapixel camera which has a gimbal-based optical stabilization, which should especially be felt when taking videos. The cameras are helped by Vivo's V1+ imaging chip, which takes care of AI enhancements.

One particular feature that stands out is the 3D Ultrasonic Large Fingerprint Sensor that can, according to Vivo, unlock the phone within 0.2 seconds. We haven't tried it out, but The Verge says that it makes a big difference, with a larger area you can press your fingers on, faster operation, and faster registration, with just one press. Should you want additional security, you can set the phone up to require two simultaneous fingerprint presses to unlock, a feature we've never seen on a phone before.

So many phones these days come with crappy in-display fingerprint sensors; the X80 Pro finally sounds like something we could use without complaining. Vivo was the first phone maker to ship a phone with an in-display fingerprint sensor, and it's nice to see the company still innovating here.

The phone is running Vivo's Funtouch OS 12 on top of Android 12. Other features of note include a dual stereo speaker and 5G support.

Besides the X80 Pro, the company also launched a less powerful model called the Vivo X80. It's the same size, but it's powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chip, only has three rear cameras (50/12/12-megapixels, with no periscope camera), and it doesn't have wireless charging.

The Vivo X80 will be available in Cosmic Black and Urban Blue, while the more powerful Vivo X80 Pro will only be available in Cosmic Black. There's no word on pricing and availability yet.
