In Wales there are so many castles that wedding guests turn up at the wrong one

Too many castles.

Wales is often called the castle capital of the world, with over 600 castles, of which 100 are still standing.

So you can't really blame this wedding party that turned up to the wrong castle.

Problem is, the two castles are some 124 miles away. The mixup happened in Wales' oldest town of Carmarthen, where the group expected to see Caernarfon Castle.

Instead, there stood the smaller, less majestic but equally historic Carmarthen castle.

Carmarthen town councillor and tour guide Phil Grice said the blunder has happened more than once.

"The only way we have worked out that people have come to the wrong town is when they seek directions to a church which is not existent in Carmarthen," he said.

"Sadly Carmarthen is much more than a two hour car journey to Caernarfon, so they likely arrive at the correct time too late for the wedding."

"Almost every week when we go to the Carmarthen Castle, someone asks if this is the castle where Prince Charles was made Prince of Wales."

Which it isn't -- that's Caernarfon.
