RIP, arteries: A state fair-themed restaurant is opening inside Walmart

Get your fill of cookie fries and funnel cakes, friends.

Just in case your annual trip to the fairground funnel cake stand wasn't enough, a Plano, Texas, Walmart will soon be home to all your favorite greasy, delicious fair foods.

State Fair Treats, a new in-store restaurant, will serve classic fair fare (haha) like corn dogs and funnel cakes. It will also peddle owner Isaac Rousso's more inventive creations: funnel cake fries, deep-fried bacon hash browns and "cookie fries," a delightful mashup of crisp French fries and warm cookies. (FYI, cookie fries were named "most creative" at this year's Texas State Fair, so you know they're good.)

“Walmart was looking for a creative new food concept to energize high profile locations,” Rousso told D Magazine, adding that this first location will serve up to 2 million people in the next year.

That's a lot of cookie fries.

The restaurant will also serve never-before-seen "creations," which we pray include other deep-fried desserts. Deep-fried ice cream? Deep-fried milkshakes? We'll say this: unlike the capacity of our arteries, the possibilities are limitless.

The Plano location opens Sept. 20. More locations — both in Texas and nationwide — are forthcoming.
