An anonymous bidder has committed to paying $3,456,789 for a lunch with the "Oracle of Omaha" and investor extraordinaire Warren Buffett.

The bidder can bring up to six friends to meet the legendary philanthropist, who is regarded as one of the most successful investors in the world. The meal was auctioned off on eBay, and will be held at Smith & Wollensky, a steakhouse in New York City.

The proceeds from the auction will benefit Glide, a charity dedicated to helping the homeless and poor in San Francisco. This is the 17th year in a row that Mr. Buffett has donated his time to the organization, and the second year that the winning bid was over $3.4 million. Buffett's late wife, Susie Buffett, was involved with Glide before her death in 2004.

“Glide is a bridge for thousands of people on the brink of despair, helping them achieve dignity and opportunity by providing them with basic services,” said Buffett.

Buffett's meals with winners typically last a couple of hours, and he has said he is open to discussing anything - short of his own future investment targets.

According to the Wall Street Journal, each year Glide "provides 750,000 meals as well as rental assistance, legal counseling, after-school care, emergency shelter and other services to thousands of people in the Bay Area."
