Richard Adams' classic children's story of rabbit colonies making bloody war with one another is coming to Netflix -- and it's get a hefty cast in tow.

The streaming service has partnered with BBC to produce a four-episode adaptation of Watership Down. John Boyega, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Ben Kingsley and Gemma Arterton all fill out the list of confirmed stars so far.

Watership Down focuses on a warren of rabbits that faces destruction at the hands of encroaching humanity and a rival warren ruled as a police state. Yes, rabbits can establish dictatorships, too.

This won't be the first time Adams' story has taken a new form. Watership Down was most famously adapted into a 1978 film in the U.K., by writer and director Martin Rosen. More than two decades later, Rosen returned to the story for a BBC TV series that ran from 1999 to 2001.

Watership Down has also been adapted for the stage and for radio, and it was notably the inspiration for an obscure pen-and-paper role-playing game called Bunnies & Burrows.

The new animated miniseries will air on BBC One in the U.K. and on Netflix globally, kicking off sometime in 2017.
