More than 800 photographs were submitted to the first Weather Photographer of the Year competition, the winner of which was announced Sept. 10.

Photos entered into the competition, organised by the Royal Meteorological Society and the Royal Photographic Society, take in a range of weather phenomena, as well as their impact on people, cities and the landscape.
