Brands will be brands. Or, in other words there will always be corny content, promotions piggybacking on social issues, and cringe-worthy tweets from major corporations trying to capture the attention of millennial minds online.

Some fail, but Wendy's has been collecting W's for awhile now. Their latest social media triumph is a bit unexpected and different from their fiery tweets: this time, they've dropped a mixtape.

Yeah, you read that right. The weirdest part though is that it's actually not bad.

This isn't the first musical endeavor from a food company. Hamburger Helper released Watch the Stove on Soundcloud two years ago. In a similar vein, Wendy's entire project, We Beefin?, clocks in at 10 minutes total—a major departure from the incredibly long hip-hop albums that seem to be all the rage these days. With only five songs, that's already a big +1 in my book.

But before we dive deep, we must acknowledge the album art. It's an extremely bold homage to Ready To Die, the debut album from the late Notorious B.I.G. If the "mixtape" was bad, then this would be awkward, but because it's quite good, we'll chalk this up as a funny tribute.

Now, as for the actual songs, they're... fresh. Sure, the lyrics are sometimes trite, but they work overall. On We Beefin?, the personification of Wendys (sounds like a woman rapping!) goes after everyone. McDonald's ice cream machine and drive-thru lines are attacked, as are Burger King and Wingstop.

It's a lyrical extensions of its well documented Twitter beefs with competitors. You can read annotated lyrics on Genius here, but even if you have no idea what's was being said, it would be hard not to bob your head thanks to great production value and catchy beats.

Based on the social media responses, don't be surprised if you hear any of these at a house party near you.

It's only a matter of time before we get another mixtape from a fast food joint, so enjoy this novelty while it lasts and before the fresh beef (never frozen!) gets gross. You can listen to We Beefin'? on Spotify, Apple Music, and Google Play.
