What's coming to Netflix in April 2017

The snow is melting, and so, apparently, are Netflix's contracts for fantastic genre shows like Angel, Buffy and Firefly. Come April, those titles will leave the streaming provider, along with Dollhouse, The X-Files and several Superman movies.

But take heart, dear reader, because Netflix might just be making room for its growing slate of original programming -- there's less Joss Whedon, but with new shows and movies and comedy specials from Louis C.K. and Richard freaking Pryor, you might find something new to love.

Here's what's coming to and going from Netflix this month.

Top pick: Dear White People

Justin Simien returned to the story and characters of his 2014 movie because he "wanted to go deeper with the characters," he told Mashable in February. Now it's 10 episodes of essential viewing which pack emotional and political punches. Dear White People tells the stories of several students on a predominantly white Ivy League Campus and how they deal with overt and nuanced discrimination.
