Hipsters, Australia is the place to be making whisky
If you've been dreaming of turning full hipster and opening a whisky distillery, there's never been a better time than now.
That is if you are Australian. And have a beard.

The Australian government announced in its federal budget on Tuesday evening that it would be extending a tax break to anyone producing whisky, vodka, gin and liqueur in the local market.
The 60% tax excise, which can win you a sweet $30k in a year, is already paid to beer brewers. Now all hip alcohol producers can get in on the action. The government will also let cider producers have a bite of the apple pie.
Unfortunately, for those taking advantage of the drunken youth market, the new scheme will not help the producers of alcopops -- those vodka and soda mixes seen at 18th birthday parties.
"This support will assist the domestic industry to grow and continue to compete on the world stage," the government said in its budget.
"There are approximately 100 distilleries in Australia who will be eligible for the scheme including many new whisky distillery start-ups in Tasmania."
